Design a seat map with AI

Zunaro Designer AI is a copilot docked inside the seat-map designer. Describe your venue in plain words, point at seats and tell it what to do, or hand it a floor-plan photo to trace — it edits the same canvas you do, so every change is one undo away. It's part of the designer, not Ask Zunaro.

Building a big chart by hand is tedious. Zunaro Designer AI is a copilot that lives inside the seat-map designer and builds or edits your chart from a sentence or a reference image. It reads the live canvas, writes through the same actions a mouse click uses, and lands every change on the same undo stack — so it's just another way to drive the designer you already know.

Open the copilot

  1. From your dashboard sidebar, open Seat maps.
  2. Select a chart to open the designer. (Need a new one? Select New seat map, name it, then Open designer.)
  3. The Designer AI panel is open by default on the right. Toggle it any time with ⌘J (Mac) or Ctrl+J (Windows), or with the panel's close button.

When the panel is closed, a floating Designer AI orb sits over the canvas — click it to reopen, or drag it to any edge so it stays out of the way. The orb shows a small dot when the copilot finishes a reply while the panel was hidden.

On a brand-new, empty chart you'll also see a Start with AI prompt in the middle of the canvas, with one-tap Templates for common venue shapes (theatre, cinema, banquet hall) — deterministic layouts with no AI call, instant, and fully editable afterwards. Inside the copilot panel, two suggestion chips help you begin: Describe my venue (answer a few questions and the copilot builds a starter layout) and Build from a floor plan (upload a reference image and have it traced — covered below). The prompt disappears as soon as you arm any drawing tool.

Pick any of them; everything that lands stays editable by mouse or by chat.

Edit by chat

Type a request in the composer and send. The copilot reads the current chart (section names, row and seat counts, the focal point, and what you have selected), then applies its changes straight to the canvas. A few real examples:

  • "Add a 12×20 orchestra block curved toward the stage."
  • "Curve all the rows in section B gently toward the focal point."
  • "Rename section A to Pavilion and move it 40px up."
  • "Add 8 round tables with 10 chairs each in the VIP section."
  • "Set up a 6-row banquet layout of round tables in the back half."

As it works, the panel shows a small chip for each step it ran (for example createRowBlock, rotateRows) and steers the canvas view to follow along. It also suggests short follow-up prompts under its reply — one tap sends one.

If a request is ambiguous — "which row C?" — the copilot asks a quick clarifying question in plain text before doing anything. Answer it and the edit continues.

What you can ask it to do

The copilot can drive any of the designer's editing actions. Practical asks include:

  • Create — straight rows, a block of parallel rows, a single curved (arc) row, rectangular or polygon sections, and round or rectangular tables.
  • Reshape — set a row's curvature, angle, or seat spacing; curve a whole block of rows at once; mirror a selection horizontally or vertically.
  • Organize — rename sections, rows, and tables; move objects; set the number of seats in a row; set the focal point (the stage).
  • Categorize and mark — assign seats to a price category; toggle wheelchair-accessible, companion, or restricted-view flags.
  • Clean up — delete a section, row, or table.

Point and tell

You don't have to describe everything in words. Select seats, a row, a section, or tables on the canvas first, then tell the copilot what to do with those. The composer shows a chip for the live selection (for example 3 seats selected or Section selected) so you know exactly what "these" refers to.

  • Select 6 seats, then: "Make these accessible." (toggles wheelchair-accessible)
  • Select a section, then: "Assign this to the Premium category."
  • Select a block of rows, then: "Curve these toward the stage."

Use Clear next to the chip when you're done to free the selection.

  1. Click or marquee-select the seats/rows/sections on the canvas.
  2. Check the selection chip in the composer matches what you meant.
  3. Type the action in plain words and send.

Scan a reference image

Have a photo of a floor plan, a seating diagram, or an event poster? The copilot can trace it into editable seats.

  1. With nothing selected, open the chart's image panel and upload your reference image so it shows on the canvas.
  2. In the copilot, tap the Build from a floor plan suggestion (or just ask: "trace my floor plan").
  3. The copilot looks at the canvas, proposes sections, tables, and row blocks, and lays them down as fully editable objects — not a flat picture.

What lands on the chart is the same kind of object you'd draw by hand: real sections, rows, and tables you can rename, recolor, move, or delete. The trace is a starting point — drag counts and positions to fine-tune, then keep going by chat or by mouse. Because traced objects are ordinary chart objects, the rest of the manual workflow (categories, accessibility, the publish checklist) applies to them unchanged.

Let the copilot "see" the chart

Sometimes you don't want to describe every coordinate. You can let the copilot literally look at your canvas: it captures the current chart as an image (with a coordinate grid overlaid), reads positions off the grid, and then places or adjusts objects based on what it sees. This is useful for tasks like "add a section that fills the gap in the top-left" or "recreate this floor plan" — anywhere "show, don't tell" beats typing out positions.

You don't need to trigger this manually; the copilot decides when looking will help and does it as part of its reply.

Conversations are per chart

Each seat map keeps its own conversation thread, tied to you, so you can leave and come back to a chart mid-build without losing context. Use New chat (the pencil icon in the panel header) to start fresh on the same chart if a thread has gone off track. The copilot runs on Gemini and powers both the chat and the image scan.

Tips and guardrails

  • Undo is your safety net. Every copilot edit is one undo step. If a change isn't what you wanted, roll it back and rephrase — you won't break anything.
  • Mix AI and manual freely. Draw a section by hand, then ask the copilot to fill it with curved rows. Or let the copilot lay out the bones, then fine-tune labels and colors with the toolbar. Both write to the same chart.
  • Be specific about counts and positions. "Add 10 rows of 20 seats in the orchestra" beats "add some seats." For placement, reference named sections or the focal point ("curve the front rows toward the stage").
  • Selection is context. When you have seats selected, the copilot already knows — you can just say "mark these accessible" or "assign these to VIP" without describing which ones.
  • Publishing still needs the checklist. The copilot can help clear checklist issues (duplicate labels, uncategorized seats, empty sections), but you still select Publish yourself once the chart is clean. See Design a seat map for the full checklist.
